In an effort to offer Rosemont customers regular opportunities to take part in supporting our mission and community, we have created what we call Community Funded Initiatives.
Current Initiatives:
Full Plates, Full Potential. One of our longest standing initiatives features our Rosemont-made Peanut Noodles. For every purchase of our our Peanut Noodles, we donate $1 to FEED Kids, a program of Full Plates Full Potential. Since 2018, customers who have chosen to purchase Rosemont-made Peanut Noodles have contributed to the following impact on this initiative:
2018: $5,231
2019: $2,867
2020: $2,947
2021: $4,442
2022: $5,448
“This donation will be so helpful as we fund our summer grants. As you might imagine, the need remains great and we’re working hard to make sure kids have a happier, healthier summer with consistent access to healthy, free meals.” – Rebecca Dill, No Kid Hungry
Cookies For Community:
We donate a portion of the proceeds from our 10-pack cookies to local organizations.
Equality Maine. For every purchase of a bag of PRIDE cookies from our pastry department, Rosemont Market & Bakery donates $1 to the Equality Maine Foundation.
The Locker Project. For every purchase of a bag of Chocolate Chip or Spice cookies from our pastry department, Rosemont Market & Bakery donates 5% to the The Locker Project.
Past Initiatives:
Rosemont’s Register Roundup Supporting the PFAS Emergency Testing Fund established by MOFGA & Maine Farmland Trust began in February of 2022 and wrapped up in September 2022. Many generous Rosemont customers chose to round up purchases to the nearest dollar at checkout. The roundup total equaled $1,814.16 which we donated directly to the PFAS Emergency Testing Fund. This fund was established to support Maine farms coping with potential and established PFAS contamination. Learn more about this challenging issue affecting our local food system.
From spring of 2020 through spring of 2021 (throughout the course of the pandemic), we offered $10 snack packs available for purchase by our customers. For each purchase, Rosemont made a fresh and nourishing snack pack for The Locker Project, a local organization who works tirelessly to ensure food security for children by providing healthy snacks and meals to families in our community. As a result of the generous support of Rosemont customers, 569 snack packs were distributed to food-insecure families in our community during this period.
Community-focused ice cream for a good cause? Yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds. We partnered with our friends atDear Dairy to create a summertime Rosemont x Dear Dairy exclusive flavor: Strawberry Poundcake. Not only was this ice cream so yummy, it was truly a community effort. Made with yogurt fromWinter Hill Farm, pound cake from Rosemont’s bakery, and the sweetest Maine strawberries from Maxwell’s and Jordan’s farms in Cape Elizabeth sourced through a local non-profit. We donated $1 per every pint purchased for a total of $270 to Farms for Food Equity, a non-profit organization led by Penny Jordan that is working hard to reduce food waste, end hunger locally, and identify market opportunities that support the economy of farmers in Maine.
