Challah French Toast

Indulge in the perfect morning treat with our delectable French toast recipe featuring Rosemont-made challah bread. Lightly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg, each golden slice offers a delightful burst of flavor. With its irresistibly fluffy texture and heavenly aroma, this French toast is sure to become a beloved tradition at your breakfast table.

Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices of Rosemont-made Challah Bread (1 whole loaf)
  • 8 local eggs
  • 2 tablespoons whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) of unsalted butter, for frying
  • Tree of Life Maple Syrup, for serving
  • Optional: Powdered sugar, for serving
  • Optional: Fresh berries or sliced bananas, for serving

Method

Prep the Egg Mixture:
In a shallow dish, whisk together the local eggs, milk, ground nutmeg, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Soak the Bread:
Dip each slice of Challah Bread into the egg mixture, allowing the bread to soak for about 30 seconds on each side. Ensure each slice is well-coated but not overly soggy.

Cook the French Toast:
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter is melted and bubbly, add as many slices of soaked bread to the skillet as will fit without overcrowding.
Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

Serve Warm:
Serve the French toast warm with a generous drizzle of Tree of Life Maple Syrup. Optionally, sprinkle powdered sugar on top and accompany with fresh berries or sliced bananas for added flavor and presentation.
