Our Story & Team

Rosemont Market & Bakery is a family of 6 neighborhood markets across Greater Portland, all offering fresh, flavorful food from trusted local sources. Inspired by European-style grocers where customers visit daily to find the freshest ingredients, our small markets are woven into the heart of each neighborhood.

At Rosemont, we champion Maine’s local food system, and we’re proud to help make local food accessible, one neighborhood at a time.

Our Story

Good Food, Local First—Since Day One

Co-founders Scott Anderson and John Naylor have worked in the food industry all their lives. Scott honed his craft at Back Bay Grill, following years of cooking in France and Switzerland. John got his start buying and filleting fish before opening the Grouper Cafe, a restaurant he co-owned in Mt. Kisco, New York. After working together for 10 years at Portland’s Green Grocer, the two opened the first Rosemont store in order to provide an outlet for the nascent Maine food economy. Since then, we’ve added 5 more stores and thousands of new friends.

2005—Rosemont Brighton Ave opens

2006—Rosemont Yarmouth opens

2014—Rosemont West End opens

2017—Rosemont Cape Elizabeth opens

2019—Rosemont Falmouth opens

2022—Rosemont Scarborough opens

We love to tell you about the farm and feed a particular animal was raised on, our local cheesemakers, and the perfect wine to serve with dinner and the small producers in the wine region it came from.
