Meet Your New Favorite Holiday Potato

Introducing the 3lb Bag of Organic Kennebec Potatoes from Goranson Farm

The Kennebec potato has deep Maine roots—quite literally. Developed over 80 years ago in Aroostook County, it’s a variety woven into the story of Goranson Farm. Their family has been growing it on the banks of the Kennebec River in Dresden for more than 60 years, and for three generations it’s been the go-to spud for their own family meals. With a natural resistance to many common diseases, the Kennebec thrives on their diversified organic farm without fungicides or synthetic pesticides—just good land, good stewardship, and time-tested genetics.

Why Cooks Love the Kennebec

This is Goranson Farm’s most-recommended all-purpose potato: practical, flavorful, and incredibly versatile. Its naturally smooth and creamy texture makes it perfect for holiday mashed potatoes—light, fluffy, never gummy, and not nearly as demanding of butter or cream as some drier varieties.

But don’t stop at mash:

  • Roast or bake for crisp edges and tender centers

  • Fry for perfect latkes or oven wedge fries

  • Hasselback for an impressive holiday side

  • Steam or smash with ease—the thin, delicate skin melts right in

No peeling necessary. Keeping the skins on means less work for you and more nutrients, antioxidants, and flavor in the finished dish.

Thoughtfully Packaged & Built to Last

They’ve packed these potatoes in special paper bags that block most of the light so they stay in great condition on our shelves—and on your countertop. At Goranson Farm, Kennebecs keep beautifully through the winter, often lasting over 8 months in their dark, temperature-controlled storage barn.

A quick tip: avoid leaving them out in warmth or direct light. These potatoes are organic, untreated, and very much alive—they’ll think it’s spring and begin to green or sprout if given the chance.
