Santa Tresa Sparkling Frappato, with its bright notes of wild strawberry and red cherry, gives this spritz its rosy color and lively fizz. Made from organic grapes grown in southern Sicily, it finishes dry and fresh, which keeps the Sicilian Spritz light on its feet next to the vermouth and blood orange. It’s an easy bottle to love on its own, too, and a good one to keep chilled for company.

Bright, a little bitter, and just sweet enough, this spritz is an easy one to pour when friends drop by. Sparkling Frappato brings the berry fruit and fizz, bianco vermouth adds a soft herbal note, and blood orange juice ties it all together. It takes about a minute to make and needs no special equipment.

Makes 1 drink

Ingredients

  • 3 oz. Santa Tresa Sparkling Frappato, chilled
  • 1 oz. Contratto Vermouth Bianco
  • 1 oz. blood orange juice
  • Grapefruit twist, for garnish
  • Ice

How to make it

  1. Fill a large wine glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the vermouth and blood orange juice and give it a gentle stir.
  3. Top with the sparkling Frappato.
  4. Twist a strip of grapefruit peel over the glass to release the oils, then drop it in.

Making a round? For six drinks, stir together 6 oz. vermouth and 6 oz. blood orange juice in a pitcher and keep it cold. Pour 2 oz. of the mix over ice in each glass and top with 3 oz. sparkling Frappato.

You’ll find the Santa Tresa and the Contratto on the wine shelves at any of our markets. Ask our wine team if you’d like a hand finding them.
