What’s New Around the Market
One of the joys of working at Rosemont is how often something new shows up. Our buyers, chefs, and bakers are constantly testing, tasting, and bringing in new products. Sometimes things move so quickly I barely have time to catch them before they’re gone again.
But every once in a while I manage to pause, take a look around the store, and gather a few things that absolutely deserve to be on your radar. Some are local. Some come from a little farther away. All of them meet the same standard we hold everything to here: high quality, thoughtfully sourced, and something we’re excited to eat ourselves.
Here are a few new (and newly returned) items we’re especially excited about right now.
Produce Department
This is probably the section of the store with the most constant change — we are a seasonal market after all.
Late winter can be a tricky stretch for our produce buyer. Maine’s growing season moves slowly, so this time of year we lean heavily on hearty root vegetables and greenhouse-grown greens.
But as the days start getting a little longer, a few exciting things begin to appear.
Evercrisp Apples

By now, most Maine-grown storage apples have come and gone. Enter Evercrisp.
We’re unofficially calling this the new Honeycrisp. Evercrisp is actually a cross between Honeycrisp and Fuji, combining the best of both varieties: incredible crunch, balanced sweetness, and excellent storage life.
These apples come from an EcoCertified orchard in New England, part of a program that promotes sustainable orchard ecosystems. The EcoCertified approach focuses on supporting pollinators, encouraging natural pest control, and maintaining healthy soil and tree systems.
So you’re not just buying regional fruit — you’re supporting growers working toward more sustainable orchards.
And most importantly: they’re delicious.
TDE Mandarin Oranges

If you’ve noticed mandarins disappearing quickly lately, you’re not imagining things. These TDE mandarins have quietly become one of the most popular fruits in the store right now.
TDE stands for a “triple cross” hybrid — Temple Tangor, Dancy, and Encore — and the result is a premium late-season mandarin known for being incredibly sweet, juicy, and easy to peel.
Available roughly February through April, these medium-to-large mandarins have a deep reddish-orange rind and are completely seedless.
Perfect for snacking, salads, lunches, or honestly just standing at the kitchen counter eating three in a row.
Radicchio

Not a vegetable we typically bring in. But lately we’ve noticed cabbage absolutely flying off the shelves (seriously… what’s going on there??).
So we thought we’d introduce another member of the brassica family: radicchio.
Radicchio brings a pleasant bitterness that works beautifully in winter salads, shaved thin with citrus and olive oil, or even grilled. That bitterness balances rich winter cooking in a way that sweeter greens sometimes can’t.
Meat & Deli
The meat department is always evolving as we find products that balance quality, sourcing, and value.
Pineland Farms Boneless Short Ribs
We’re excited to bring in Pineland Farms Natural Meat boneless short ribs. With beautiful marbling and deep flavor, these are perfect for slow braises — exactly the kind of cooking that still feels right this time of year. A great cold-weather cut while we wait for grilling season to fully arrive.
Farmers & Cooks Deli Meats (Back!)
Deli meat can be tricky. Many of the lower-priced options on the market just aren’t products we feel good about offering. Last year we discovered Farmers & Cooks, a small producer out of Massachusetts, and it quickly became a favorite in the deli case. The quality is excellent, the ingredients are straightforward, and the pricing stays reasonable. It’s the kind of deli meat we’re comfortable serving to our own families — which is always the standard we aim for. We have their smoked turkey, roasted turkey & uncured ham.
New Grocery Finds
A few new items have recently landed on the grocery shelves, including several exciting local producers.
Honey Pop Soda (LOCAL)

A Maine-made soda sweetened with honey instead of refined sugar. Light, refreshing, and a fun alternative to traditional soft drinks.
Hilltop Boilers Pancake Mix (LOCAL)

Just in time for maple season! Hilltop Boilers makes a great Maine-made pancake mix that produces fluffy, satisfying pancakes — exactly the kind that deserve a generous pour of real maple syrup.
Flo’s Relish (LOCAL)

If you know Flo’s, you probably already love it. This classic New England relish has developed something of a cult following over the years. Tangy, bright, and perfect for hot dogs, burgers, and summer cookouts.
Maine Homestead Bread & Butter Pickles

Sweet, tangy, and seriously snackable. These bread & butter pickles bring that classic flavor profile with a great crunch — excellent alongside sandwiches or straight out of the jar.
Back on the Wine Shelves
Not new — but very welcome back. A few bottles we’ve missed are finally returning to the shelves.
Colleleva Rosso Piceno

Italy — Montepulciano & Sangiovese
Deep color with dark wild berry fruit and a juicy finish. This is an easy-drinking red that benefits from a slight chill. A top choice for pizza night or backyard BBQ.
Colleleva Verdicchio

Italy
One of those rare whites that truly does a little bit of everything. Peachy, crisp, and youthful with a mineral backbone that almost recalls a much pricier Chablis. Low alcohol, refreshing acidity, and a versatile partner for food. Great with salads, shellfish, conservas, salmon, and chicken.
Elvio Tintero Rosato

Piedmont, Italy
Not only does Tintero’s Piemontese blend deliver exceptional value, it also brings a little extra fun. The wine has a slight natural effervescence that pushes its festive factor way up. Notes of red berries, tangerine, and ginger.
Blend:
85% Barbera
12% Arneis
3% Moscato
As always, new things arrive here faster than we can sometimes keep track of. Stop in, take a look around, and see what catches your eye.
