For us, summer means grilling season. Any excuse to get outside and not turn on the oven! Right now, we are loving Grilled Strip Steak & Local Veggies from Pineland Farms Natural Meat.
How to grill a strip steak:
- Pull your steak out of the fridge and let it come to room temperature. Coat both sides in salt.
- Get your grill to 350-400 degrees.
- Place steak on your grill and cook on one side for 5 minutes. Turn 90 degrees to get a nice grill mark and cook for another 5 minutes on the same side.
- Flip it and let it cook for another 5-6 minutes.
- Tip: Pepper your steak to taste when complete (pepper burns on the grill!)
Meanwhile with your local vegetables:
- Chop vegetables, coat in olive oil & salt. Either place in cast iron pan or arrange straight on the grill.
- Periodically toss and cook until soft (or to your liking!)
How to cook a strip steak in the oven:
- Combine strip steak, a sprig of fresh rosemary, and a few gloves of garlic in an oiled skillet.
- Brown on the stovetop.
- Shift skillet to oven (preheated to 425 degrees) for just a few minutes.
- Pair with oven-roasted potatoes & onions!
